What are some of the benefits of bringing in an outside training consultant?

Participation in “special” training is a very desirable perk.  It improves professional skills and
communicates the value that you place on employees.

An outside person delivers brings a fresh approach to training and coaching experiences.  Examples
and exercises are new to the group.  The content is more stimulating because it is new.  Approaches
designed to strengthen teamwork and contribution to the company mission add new dimensions and
change "the way we've always done it before."

Some workshop participants fear sharing concerns or special workplace challenges in the presence
of an in-house trainer (especially from HR) because what is said in discussions might be
"documented" or repeated.  Having an outside trainer can create a more open atmosphere for dealing
with the types of challenges that impact job satisfaction and retention.
